It was a very close call, but Lost Words by Sketchbook Games won third place in Brighton's Big Indie Pitch.

"It was the book itself he cared for, Leslie--not what might be said of it--and he had it. He had read it all through. That last night must have been one of the greatest happiness for him--with the quick, painless ending he had hoped for in the morning. I am glad for Owen's sake and yours that the book is such a success--but Captain Jim was satisfied--I KNOW."

Square Enix has revealed its cult classic RPG SaGa Frontier is getting a HD remaster for mobile devices in next summer, officially called SaGa Frontier Remastered.

Originally released in the West in 1998 for the Sony PlayStation, the game takes place in a science fantasy universe called The Regions, which are a group of worlds united by varying degrees of culture, technology and unique species. You play as one of seven protagonists, each with their own story and goals. It’s very non-linear, thanks to the game’s Free Scenario System which lets you travel freely between many locations.

The reveal of SaGa Frontier Remastered came in a live stream for Square Enix’s Romancing SaGa Re;universe in Japan. Part of the ongoing SaGa Project has included Western releases of Romancing SaGa 3, SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions and popular mobile game Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe, so there is definitely a resurging amount of interest in the franchise.

SaGa Frontier Remastered is overseen by Akitoshi Kawazu, who has worked on the series in the past as well as several Final Fantasy games. The updated version will introduce a whole host of new improvements and additions, such as remastered graphics, new story content, new characters and new skills. There’ll be something there for both newcomers and long-time fans alike.

SaGa Frontier Remastered is headed for iOS and Android next summer, as part of Square Enix’s more recent drive to bring its classics to modern platforms. It’s also coming to PlayStation 4 (and presumably PS5 via backwards compatibility), PC on Steam, and Nintendo Switch. There are no store pages available yet but we’ll be sure to update you when there is more to report.
If you enjoy role playing games, particularly classic JRPGs, we have a list here naming some of the best ones you can play on your iPhone and iPad."And mind you this, Anne, dearie," said Miss Cornelia, who had not yet wholly relieved her mind, "You mustn't think Leslie is an infidel because she hardly ever goes to church--or even that she's a Methodist. She can't take Dick to church, of course--not that he ever troubled church much in his best days. But you just remember that she's a real strong Presbyterian at heart, Anne, dearie."

Apple's patent for snap-on iPhone gaming accessories that extend in-game controls with D-pads and buttons has been accepted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office today.

Apple Insider acquired all the details of the patent, which includes a large physical gamepad with a recess at its centre that your iPhone slots into.

It connects through the hardware or Bluetooth so that you can use the gamepad's D-pad, action buttons, and joysticks instead of the touchscreen to control the game.

You can also connect it to a monitor using Wi-Fi so that you can play iPhone games on a bigger screen.

The important part of the design is that it saves screen space unlike, say, virtual D-pads and buttons.

Obviously, there are third-party MFi game pads already available, but Apple is looking to keep this style of game pad for itself with this patent.

The patent also covers other physical iPhone add-ons. There's a QWERTY keyboard, one with an extra camera, speaker and microphone, and another that seems to add a trackpad-like touch input.

TechCrunch notes that the likeliness of this patent actually leading to any physical products isn't high.

One of the reasons being that the patent dates back to 2008.

The other being that the problems this patent may address have already been solved by more recent Apple products and third-party efforts.
Every tale is not to be believed.
